SPINNING

Spinning is the process of creating a continuous thread by twisting fibers together. This can be done using a drop spindle, where a weighted rod is suspended from the thread and rotated to impart the twist. Alternatively, a spinning wheel can be used, where the rod is attached to a wheel that is turned by hand or by machine to twist the fibers. Spinning is a fundamental step in textile production, transforming raw fibers into the yarns needed for weaving and other crafts.
