The Hazara, an ethnic group primarily residing in Afghanistan's central mountain region known as Hazarajat, also have significant populations in Pakistan and Iran. Their language, Hazaragi, is a unique Persian dialect with Mongolian and Turkish influences. As Shia Muslims, the Hazara have faced persecution under the Taliban regime.
