BELOUCH

The exact origins of the Baloch people are shrouded in mystery, with various theories disputed by academics and historians. Despite the uncertainty, the Baloch share a common language, Balochi, derived from an ancient Indo-Iranian language. Today, the Baloch reside in border areas across Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, with the largest region, Balochistan, located in western Pakistan and centered around the city of Quetta. While the Pakistani Baloch are known for their intricate weft-substitution flatweaves, most pile rugs are created by the Baloch of Iran and Afghanistan.
